Chris was born in Kingaroy, Queensland in 1959. Much of his childhood was spent in the country in both Central and South East Queensland where he became fascinated with the wildlife he encountered.
He became a full time, professional artist in the late 1980s spurred on by the huge success his brother, Greg, was enjoying as a wildlife artist. His very first competition entry received “the people’s choice” award and a cheque for $15. Although the prize seemed insignificant at the time, it opened many doors for the budding artist.
For more than five years, Chris owned and operated his own gallery in Hervey Bay. There were numerous prizes and accolades for Chris but perhaps the most important of all was being awarded Champion Picture in The Noosa Art Show for “Chloe Louise” a portrait of his daughter.
He was the resident artist and tutor for more than three years at The Kingfisher Bay Resort on Fraser Island. He has tutored in acrylics and oils for a number of regional art galleries and societies including Noosa, Chinchilla and Monto. Chris now lives and works on Queensland’s beautiful Sunshine Coast where he finds constant inspiration from the ocean and its inhabitants as well as the rainforests and local wildlife.
